This is my daffodil fortress. I planted my daffodils last weekend and built this fortress to keep the chickens out. So far it has worked.

  1. This will work until little shoots come up. Then if your girls are anything like mine they’ll reach their heads through and yank. Even if it isn’t tasty they’ll pull the plant up and then spit it out. I guess the only way they know if they like it is to taste it.

  2. I have a lot of daffodils around my yard. The deer don’t eat them unless they are starving. Day lilies planted in with the daffodils will be eaten to the ground while the daffodils aren’t touched. It appears that my chickens don’t eat daffodils either. However anyplace there is mulch, they dig. They have uprooted a few bulbs but not bad so far. We’ll keep the chickens.
